Check Out The Brand-New, Full Length Trailer for 'Doctor Who', Season Six

The BBC has just released this new, full-length trailer for the upcoming season six of Doctor Who.

River Song (Alex Kingston) sums it up when she says "This is the doctor's darkest hour". The trailer gives a sneak peak into the Time Lord's (Matt Smith) latest travels in America (and elsewhere) with his companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darville) and battling all sorts of machines and fantastical creatures. River Song will also be back, and it appears that in this season, we might just learn what her relationship to the Doctor really is.

The awesome climax of the trailer alludes to the possibility of some major catastrophic event that will change the lives of the characters forever.  Also makes one question just who is it that speaks "Fear me, I've killed hundreds of Time Lords," --and did Amy just shoot something or someone?  Check out the trailer below! This season is gonna be awesome!

Doctor Who returns April 23 in the U.K., U.S., and Canada.

Check Out This Dark Poster for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2'!

With the second installment scheduled for July 15, 2011, the climax of our beloved story is nigh at hand. And we shall sorely hate to see this franchise and our beloved characters go.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 pits Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) up against the treacherous Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) in one final showdown.

I have a feeling this showdown is going to be epic in nature, and for generations to come.  What do you think?

Amy Adams is The New Lois Lane

Director Zack Snyder has found his new Lois Lane in the three-time Oscar nominee, Amy Adams.

According to Hero Complex, the 36 year old actress, who was most currently nominated for Best Supporting Actress in The Fighter, has landed the role in the upcoming Superman film.

In an interview with Snyder at Hero Complex, the director said that after meeting her, he just "felt she was perfect for it".  He has also confirmed that both characters will be updated, going on to explain "what's important to us is making [Superman] relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes.  That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance]."

Amy will join Henry Cavill (Superman), and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his adopted parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.  The villain(s) have not yet been cast.

This is amazing news!  I am a huge fan of anything Amy Adams does (ever since Enchanted); such a versatile actress! What do you think about Amy Adams playing Lois Lane?

First Look at 'Torchwood: Miracle Day' Poster

The next season of Torchwood is set to premiere in July.  Check out this new rockin' poster that was just released.

According to Russell T Davies, the show's creator and executive producer, the show is going to revolve around the premise that "death has ceased to exist", which would obviously cause some major problems in population. Not sure how it will be tied back to the time rift/alien storyline.  Perhaps it will be the aliens who will have introduced a new disease or the humans have somehow become immune to death. No matter, this show is going to be simply awesome.

Torchwood: Miracle Day premieres July 8th, on Starz. Don't miss it!

'Terra Nova' Will Not Air That Teaser Premiere in May After All

Fox has sacked plans to air the premiere of its new series, Terra Nova on May 23 and May 24th, after all. The reason?  "The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of Terra Nova, which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized," said Fox's president of entertainment, Kevin Reilly.

I for one am a bit sorry to hear this, but then again, the major two night premiere was going to prove one major dino-tease after all.  What do you think?

To read more about this new series, including an exclusive interview with executive producer, Brannon Braga (24, Star Trek) go here.

The first season of Terra Nova is scheduled to air fall of 2011.

First Full Length Trailer For 'Super 8' Released

Check out this full length trailer to Super 8, produced by Spielberg, who has placed the reins of direction in the very capable hands of J.J. Abrams (Star Trek).

In this trailer, which leaves just enough up to the imagination to keep you guessing, Abrams has lovingly paid homage to the golden age of sci-fi cinema and works such as E.T. and Close Encounters. If the trailer is any indicator, this film is going to be absolutely brilliant.

The King's Speech Takes Best Picture; Natalie Portman wins 'Best Actress'

Ok, so this report is a day late, but I've been so busy.  So unless you've been living in a hobbit hole, this will be nothing new.

The King's Speech, took the overall top wins at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards Sunday night. It grabbed 'Best Original Screenplay' by David Seidler as well as taking the 'Best Director' win by Tom Hooper.

The second big winning films were The Social Network and The Fighter.  The Social Network was recognized with 'Best Adapted Screenplay by Aaron SorkinAchievement in Music Written for Motion Picture (Original Score)' and 'Film Editing'. While the Fighter's actors got recognition.

Alice in Wonderful took the costume, makeup category, and art direction categories, while Inception hit a handful of the remaining tech categories: 'Achievement in Cinematography', Wally Pfister and 'Visual Effects', and it also won the sound editing and mixing categories.

Toy Story 3 took the win for Best Animated Feature. It's 'Original Song' "We Belong Together, Randy Newman, took the award in that category.

Natalie Portman was positively glowing as she accepted her 'Best Actress' Oscar for her role in Black Swan.  In her acceptance speech, she thanked a handful of people, as well as thanking, partner, Benjamin Millepied for "giving her the best role of her life"- her soon to be role of motherhood.

Other winners in the acting categories were Colin Firth won 'Best Actor' for The King's Speech.  Christian Bale won the award for 'Supporting Actor'.  Perhaps the closest category (other than picture) Sunday night was , 'Supporting Actress'.  Melissa Leo had been the favorite earlier in the season, but Hailee Steinfeld was garnering a lot of recognition in more recent awards celebrations. There was also the apparent issue that Melissa Leo had taken out some personally funded ads in her campaign, which caused lots of commotion in Hollywood. Anyway, not too surprisingly, Melissa Leo took the category.

All in all, it was a wonderful awards ceremony, with lots of special treats.  Gwyneth Paltrow sang her hit "Coming Home". Other performers included, Mandy Moore, Randy Newman, a fitting tribute to stars that had passed, and the Orchestra played highlights from several classic films.  The finale of the show, was the PS22 Chorus, led by Gregg Breinberg  (simply known as Mr. B) singing 'Over The Rainbow' in a heartwarming sendoff ...
