We Might Actually Get A Jurassic Park 4?

According to The Hollywood ReporterSteven Spielberg would like to film Jurassic Park 4.

This news comes on the tail of his finishing up two movies (The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn and War Horse), while he is also executive producing the upcoming Fall tv series, Terra Nova (also featuring dinosaurs).

According to THR, Steven Spielberg wants to do the movie with screenwriter, Mark Protosevich, whose screen credits include working on Thor, and co-writing I Am Legend.  Nothing is official yet, though.  So far, it just seems Spielberg's team and Universal are trying to find a way to return to the series.

Actor, Sam Neill, who played Dr. Grant in the movie, has stated that he feels without author, Michael Crichton, and special effects wizard, Stan Winston (both now deceased), the odds of a fourth film being made are bad.

What do you think?  Should the movie be revived?

Official Titles For The Hobbit Films Released

For some time we've known that The Hobbit will be broken into two parts, but until now, we could only guess as to what the titles would be.

According to The BBC:
"The first film will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and will be released in December next
   year.

The Hobbit: There and Back Again is scheduled to be out in December 2013".

"An Unexpected Journey" is paying homage to the first chapter in The Hobbit, entitled, "An Unexpected Party".  There and Back Again: A Hobbit's Tale was the title given by Bilbo to his memoirs, and apparently was also the original first title to Tolkien's book.

A Day in The Life Of The Hobbit: Benedict Cumberbatch to Do The Voice of Smaug

According to The One Ring, early "unofficial" reports are saying that Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), will do the voice of Smaug, the dragon.  Everyone is keeping very hush hush, and the actor refused to say more, claiming "I can't say at the moment, than you very much."

Apparently the secret was accidentally leaked by Martin Freeman, who will play Bilbo.  He later told reporters, "I knew I was a sort of a big mouth but I didn't realize to what extent I was a big mouth, and I've just ruined everything. I might not actually go back to a job- they might have just sacked me."

So what do you think?

A Day In The Life of The Hobbit: Gandalf Rocking 3D Glasses

Is this ZZ-Top or Ian McKellen? It's a bit hard to tell, but this shot comes direct from Wellington and shows Ian McKellen wearing 3D glasses-probably checking out some footage from The Hobbit, which is currently filming there.

First Look: David Tennant In 'Fright Night'

Yep, they are remaking the horror classic, Fright Night.  Get your first glimpse of David Tennant as his character, Peter Vincent, (above)!  I can hardly tell that's him. What do you think?

Fright Night is directed by Craig Gillespie and also stars Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later), and also Colin Farrell (who is also slated for the Total Recall remake)! So does this film really need to be retold, or is this just another Hollywood remake flop?

Javier Bardem Will Play Roland Deschain in Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower'

Javier Bardem is slated to star in big screen adaptation of Stephen King's septet, The Dark Tower. The film, which will be helmed by Ron Howard will also be written by frequent collaborator, Akiva Goldsman.  There is speculation that the series will entail (3) films, and will spawn a TV series to boot.

Bardem has the raw grit to carry off the lone anti-hero type (see Bardem's character, Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men if you protest). According to Word And Film,

"Roland Deschain is a character who bleeds complexity and depth. He also combines the kind of hero-antihero duality that's come to define Bardem at his best.  Continuing the family legacy of gentleman gunslingers with metaphysical powers, Deschain is the walking embodiment of the morally ambiguous Western lone wolf who embarks on a heroes' quest to find the fabled titular citadel in order to put an end to the bloody battles ripping across the globe. Along the way, Deschain encounters unending hardships. He comes to question the existence of God, discovers his capacity for love and friendship, and ultimately grapples with issues of reincarnation and the prospect of earning and embracing his own redemption. If there's a big existential dilemma, chances are King found a way to build it into The Dark Tower's kaleidoscopic narrative."

It will be interesting to see this movie made.  Check back for more updates. In the meantime, who would you like to see play opposite Javier?

Original Terminator Cast To Make Come Back?

Last week we brought you news that there had been a pitch for a new Terminator film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Turns out that he is not the only cast member that may come back.

The rumor comes from Latino Review, about the current project titled- Terminator 2012- saying that not only is Arnie attached in his "signature" role, but the "entire original cast" could come back as well.

The report is not very specific, so it is not clear if this includes everyone, or just the majors, specifically- Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese).  No one, as of yet, has actually become attached, so this is all sheer speculation, at least until the movie has a producer attached.

Latino Review, which claims to have this info from a valid source, goes on to surmise that the new Terminator film would not fit in the continuity of the last several films, suggesting, that we should go back to Terminator 2: Judgment Day as the "starting point".

What do you think?  Should the original cast reunite? Is this rumor too good to be true??

I'll Be Back- In A Proposed New Terminator Film?

Is this rumor too good to be true? According to Deadline, a pitch was made this past Tuesday to all the majors for a new Terminator film that would feature Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role that made him famous.  Apparently there is no script, and, Justin Lin, director of Fast Five would supposedly helm.

The Deadline article goes on to say that after the less-than great performance of the latest film, Terminator Salvation, and a bankruptcy, the production company was finally able to auction off the Terminator rights to a "hedge fund", and they have been trying to land a new deal ever since.

Schwarzenegger, who is through with politics, has been eyeing several projects for a potential come-back. This role could do that big time for him. What do you think?  Should the Terminator franchise be brought back?  Would you like to see Arnie in a cameo or even starring role?

Peter Jackson Has Confirmed Ian Holm Will Play Older Bilbo In 'The Hobbit'

Peter Jackson has confirmed, via his Facebook page that Sir Ian Holm will definitely be back as the older Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. It is not clear exactly in what capacity, though, as the younger Bilbo will be played by Martin Freeman for the majority of the film. Perhaps we will meet the older Bilbo at the beginning, and the story will be told as a flashback?

The Hobbit is currently filming in New Zealand, though they are taking a short Easter break (Jackson has said that the script is being tweaked during their time off).

Kate Beckinsale May Be Set To Star Opposite Colin Farrell In Total Recall Remake

According to DeadlineKate Beckinsale (Underworld franchise) has been offered the role of Douglas Quaid's (Colin Farrell) treacherous wife, Lori in the upcoming Sony Pictures remake of the 1990 Paul Verhoeven-directed sci-fi cult film, Total Recall.

The original film, based on a short story by Philip K. Dick (We Can Remember It For You Wholesale) has achieved cult status over the years. No word yet on the other female lead, Melina, who Quaid meets on Mars. The names Rosario Dawson and Eva Mendes have been linked.

Kate Beckinsale is currently finishing up another Underworld flick- Underworld 4: New Dawn, so only time will tell whether she agrees to this role. I for one hope this comes to pass. Would love to see Kate in this role. What do you think?

On Set Of 'The Hobbit'- Peter Jackson Posts First Production Video

In an official exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, Peter Jackson is using social media to reach out to his fans in a 10 minute "vlog" (shot in HD)- in the first official production video for The Hobbit.  The video has been released via Facebook and on the official Hobbit blog, and according to THR,the vlog "will be the first in a series of vlog [posts] that will keep fans in the know over the next 2-3 years." Check out more at the official Hobbit Blog.

The video includes Jackson leading us through Bag End, as well as several sets from Rivendell, which he says are the same as the first movies.  Jackson said "Walking through Rivendell is strange...because it was 10 or 11 years ago. I'm used to looking at the set on film and now we're walking back into it again, its like you're stepped back into a movie." In several places, it is obvious that Jackson doesn't want to reveal too much, especially when referring to the Mystic Mountains, saying "the iconic scenes where Bilbo...well you'll know if you've read the book."

In the 10 minute video, we also garner images of costumes (fittings) and props, as well as Andy Serkis in his Gollum motion capture suit, and "Dwarf training". There is also brief commentary from a few members of the cast:  Martin Freeman (Bilbo), Ian McKellan (Gandalf), and Andy Serkis (Gollum).

The video also shows Jackson kidding around with Ian Mckellan,  and a traditional Maori welcoming ceremony, which according to THR, is called a "Powhiri", that is supposed to bless the main sound stage at dawn on the first day of shooting".

To read further details about the video, check out the exclusive over at THR, or just check out the video for yourself, below.
