Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham-Carter eyeing roles in 'Dark Shadows'

According to a source at Deadline, Michelle Pfeiffer is currently in talks to play the matriarch in the upcoming Tim Burton directed, Dark Shadows.  If Pfeiffer lands the role, she will play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the head of the Collins family, longtime owners of a cannery and shipping company in a small, fictitional sea village in Maine.

Pfeiffer has worked with Burton previously in Batman Returns as the notorious Catwoman.

Helena Bonham-Carter who has also worked with Burton (and who also happens to be his partner) is a shoo-in to land the role of Dr. Hoffman, a specialist in psychology and rare blood disorders who will eventually play a determing role in the fate of Barnabas Collins (to be played by Johnny Depp).

Other collaborations with Burton include, Sweeney Todd, and most currently, Alice in  Wonderland.

If they land the  roles, they would be joining Eva Green as the witch, Angelique, Jackie Earle as Willie Loomis  and Hayley  Bella Heathcote and as the young governess, Victoria Winters.

  1. Let's be honest, it's no big surprise to see Helena Bonham-Carter is being considered for this role, but that doesn't mean she still won't be a great choice! As for MP, meh. I have no strong feelings either way. We'll see.
